Our Story

Meeting of Cultures

The Sundeer was envisioned and launched by Sólyomfi-Nagy Zoltán in 2015. He is a ceremony leader, teacher (BTF), poet, songwriter, ethnographer (PTE BTK BA), and cultural anthropologist (PTE BTK MA). Over the past decades, he has released several music albums and poetry collections.

His main area of interest is the worldview and ceremonies of nature-based peoples. He particularly researches the spiritual practices and worldview of Central Asian nomadic peoples, North American Indian nations, and early Hungarians, as well as their living heritage that endures to this day.

He has traveled multiple times to Central Asia, India, and North American Indian reservations, where he participated in ceremonies and cultural gatherings. His scientific publications focus on the SWEAT LODGE (izzasztó kunyhó, temazcal, inipi, sweatlodge, etc.) ceremony and the history of hairstyles, as well as their spiritual meanings.

His wife and organizing partner is Andrea Pigassi Segovia, a Brazilian-Chilean sociologist and dance teacher. In Hungary, she helps people heal through the Biodanza healing dance method.

The Sundeer has created a community of knowledge keepers, teachers, volunteers and participants who renew their commitment year after year to the spiritual paths of various ancient traditions.

The event offers a nourishing and meaningful learning experience in a loving and welcoming environment. Our five-day journey begins on Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock with the Opening Fire Ceremony, where guests from various traditions introduce themselves in communal prayer before Grandfather Fire. We tend and keep the Sacred Fire alive throughout all five days of the Sundeer, until the Closing Fire Ceremony on Sunday. The flames nourish the ceremonies and remind us of our connection and unity with the forces of Mother Nature. They evoke our spirit, our origins, and the possibility of transformation and community building.

Join us for the 12th Sundeer Gathering

August 5-9, 2026!

Our fundamental goal is to awaken the knowledge held in humanity's ancient memory, to maintain physical and spiritual balance, to find our true selves, and the possibility of a purer and healthier life.

The Sundeer is a spiritual event that invites you to communal prayer and sharing of inner experiences through the lived experience of deeply rooted ancient traditions.

We exist in continuous gratitude that we may awaken

every pore of our body and spirit.
